Dominican Blowouts on Natural Hair.

A Dominican blowout is a chemical-free way to straighten your natural hair using a hand dryer and a comb. The Dominican
blowout is a new hair treatment which promises to give you shiny, smooth, and healthy hair which can be styled in any way.
It can be straight or curled, but it’s better when it’s straight.

The Dominican blowout which involves hair washing, hair straightening, rollers setting and blow-drying, started in the Dominican
Republic and later moved to other states in the USA especially in Black Communities. It is a natural way of styling your natural
hair without the use of chemical products that can cause heat damage.

Dominican blowouts are ideal because they fit on any hair, be it long or short. Though it is done on natural hair with no harsh
products, hair stylists use some minor chemicals for styling but to maximize results. Products like blowout cream, heat protector,
and dry perfection are mostly used. These products help to prepare your hair for the process and also protect it from heat damage.

Always consider the well-being of your hair when using heat on it. It’s important to discuss this topic with your hairstylist before
getting service. While wet setting your hair is a really good method for straightening without direct heat, the extra time spent
underneath the dryer along with high blow-drying temperatures can be cause for concern. So do ensure your hair is well oiled
before it’s worked on.

Tools for a perfect Dominican Blowout:

Stylists use several tools for Dominican blowouts. These tools include; Magnetic rollers, a round brush, a blow dryer with a nozzle
attachment, a hooded hair dryer, and butterfly clamps.

Necessary Products for Dominican Blowout:

The most common products are; blowout cream, heat protectant, and dry perfection spray.

Procedures to have a perfect Blowout:

Start with a shampoo wash. Wash hair with shampoo to get rid of debris. Super clean hair naturally behaves better when heated and
will be more pliable to sculpt. Rinse off shampoo, and apply a hair conditioner to hair and rinse thoroughly.

Wrap hair with a microfibre towel to drain moisture. A microfibre towel will help your hair not to break.
Partition your hair and roll it in the Magnetic Rollers. Allow the hair to set for about 2 hours. This is where patience is a virtue.
2 hours is a long time to wait for your hair to dry naturally. A magazine or internet connection will be ideal at this point to keep you busy.
After the hair has dried naturally with the rollers, take the rollers out and use the round brush and blow dryer to blow dry hair, then plump
and pimp out the hair. This is where the magic happens. The hair will be incredibly silky at the end of this exercise.
For how long should your Dominican Blowout last?

A perfect Dominican Blowout should last anywhere between 1 and four weeks depending on a lot of factors such as the hair’s porosity,
and how well you can take care of it without it shrinking. The key to maintaining your hair is to keep the hair super dry. That means not
having hot steamy showers, keeping out of the rain, staying warm in humid environments. In fact, avoiding any moisture-producing activities.
